Xiangyunsha Silk
Xiangyunsha is commonly known as acanthus silk and cloud yarn. It is an ancient handmade silk fabric dyed with pure plant dyes in China. It is praised as "soft gold" by the textile industry and is also a national intangible cultural heritage. The sericulture and silk reeling industry in Shunde District of Foshan City has a long history. It is known as the "Silk Capital of the South" and has completely preserved the dyeing and finishing techniques of Xiangyunsha.
Xiangyunsha Production Method:
Xiangyunsha is a kind of gauze product made by coating mulberry silk fabric with Dioscorea juice, then covering it with mineral-containing river pond mud, and then exposing it to the sun.
The Color of Xiangyunsha:
The main colors of traditional Xiangyunsha are "black" and "yellow". One side presents a brown "yellow" color with different shades or yellowish or reddish, and the other side presents a brown "black" color that is yellowish or reddish!
Due to the differences in batches of plant dyes, as well as differences in factors such as environment, temperature and humidity, and the difficulty of manual dyeing, the color of each batch of dyed cloth will be different, and it is also common to have multiple colors on one cloth.
Silk quality is graded A, B, or C, with Grade A being the best. Grade A silk is the highest quality long-strand silk from cocoons that are pearly white in color. It is very pure and can be unraveled to great lengths without breaking. In the silk industry, we divide silk into different grades according to its quality. Grade A silk comes in A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A, with 6A being the highest and finest quality silk.

Grade 6A: Good silk comes from good silkworm cocoons. The best silkworm cocoons are round, plump, and uniform in size, and the surface color is the same as that of pearls. They are gentle and not dazzling, very clean, and almost free of impurities. Such a good cocoon can extract about 1200 meters of silk. Good silk is crystal clear and translucent, not snow white, but pearl white. When we touch this kind of silk, we will feel "comfort, soft, and slippery", with good air permeability, warm but not dry.
- Grade B: provides lesser comfort and feels slightly rough. It also does not have the luminous natural shine possessed by Grade 6A.
- Grade C: has a yellowish appearance with brown dots. This grade of silk feels like cotton, and it has a rough texture with hardly any natural shine. It has a lumpy feel and is not as breathable as the other two grades of silk.
Momme
Momme is a unit of measurement, much like thread count in Cotton. Momme describes the silk’s weight and density. Higher momme means there is more strands of silk per 100 yards of fabric, therefore making the product heavier. Momme can range anywhere from 11-momme to 25-momme.
Higher momme count silk is heavier with a denser weave and thicker individual silk fibers than lower momme count silk. Higher momme count silk is also more costly.

Cleaning Method:
1. First cleaning:
It is normal for silk Xiangyun Silk products to have slight floating color when they are washed for the first time
2. Prohibited use:
Silk products cannot use alkaline detergents, such as soap, washing powder, laundry detergent, etc.
3. Recommended use:
You can use neutral acid shampoo or shower gel to wash: first, take a basin of clean water, drop a few drops of shampoo or shower gel into it and stir well, then soak the product in it. The soaking time should not exceed 3 minutes. Do not rub and wring it dry, and finally lay it flat to dry in the cool place. (It is recommended to take Xiangyun Silk products such as cotton-padded clothes and down jackets to professional washing and care stores for washing and care!)
4. Oil stain treatment:
If you accidentally get a small amount of oil stains during daily wear and use, you can use shampoo and shower gel to remove it, or you can use detergent to wash it according to the first method, but detergent will be dry and not skin-friendly after washing. If the oil stain is not large, it is recommended to use detergent (all detergents cannot directly contact clothing, otherwise it will cause local color imbalance, etc.)
